On March 30, 2012, we successfully acquired three companies that comprise an integrated downstream business in Malaysia—Esso Malaysia Berhad, ExonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and ExxonMobil Borneo Sdn Bhd—from ExxonMobil. With the acquisition, Petron begins a new chapter in the Malaysian oil and gas industry. Our acquisition includes key assets such as the 88,000 barrel-per-day Port Dickson refinery, a retail network of 550 service stations, and a robust distribution system of 7 terminals. Our downstream businesses range from retail, industrial and wholesale, LPG, lubricants, and aviation. Supported by a team of highly skilled and motivated management and personnel, Petron in Malaysia is poised for exciting times ahead.
We are committed to optimizing the company’s assets in Malaysia and we plan to invest in key areas of the business. We shall improve the Port Dickson refinery to increase the value of its production stream and in parallel, grow our retail network to enhance our competitive position. We are very optimistic about our prospects here in Malaysia.
